The School day

School Day

The school day starts at 8.45am and ends at 3.30pm. Children should not be on the premises before 8.35am, when staff supervision is in place. The Dorrells Road gates will be locked at 8.50am for security purposes.

The teaching time for pupils varies with the age of the child so the school day is divided differently for Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) as follows:

                                        Morning Session               Lunch                          Afternoon Session
Reception & KS1 (4-7+) 8.45 – 12.10 noon            12.10 - 1.15pm           1.15 – 3.30pm
KS2 (7-11)                      8.45 – 12.30 noon            12.30 - 1.30pm           1.30 – 3.30pm

All children have a morning break of 15 minutes and KS1 children have a 15 minute afternoon break. These breaks are at 10.25 – 10.40am and 2.15 – 2.30pm respectively.

The minimum weekly teaching time (excluding break times, registration and collective worship) is 23 hours 30 minutes for KS1 and 24 hours 45 minutes for KS2.
