Our Vision and Values
Our Distinctive Church School
Our school is committed to helping pupils develop an understanding of the Christian faith. This is taught directly through collective worship and religious education and also shown through the values, behaviour, and relationships demonstrated by both pupils and staff. We are an inclusive community and warmly welcome children, staff, families and friends from all faiths and belief backgrounds.
We believe that the messages and values found in the Bible and the teachings of Jesus, offer important guidance that shapes our school ethos, supports children’s personal growth and helps them engage positively with the wider world.
Our strong partnership with the church enriches this work by supporting children’s spiritual development through regular worship, special faith-focused days, and shared celebrations held at the church.
Jesus told us The Parable of the Mustard Seed, Matthew 13: 31-32
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Our school is like a seed growing into a strong tree, just like our school’s beloved walnut trees.
- The roots represent our school community, with children and families from many different places, all growing together and trusting in God.
- The trunk is our school, a safe and strong place where we help each other, learn together, and feel confident.
- The branches are our school values — respect, perseverance, responsibility and curiosity — which help us live our vision and guide how we treat one another.
- The leaves are all the things that help us grow, like our learning, our teachers, our friends, and our school grounds. Our goal is to prepare our children to continue to flourish after they have left us.
- - The birds in the tree are the children, safe and cared for by God, ready to fly into the next part of their journey.
This key passage reflects so much of our school vision and is reflected in our motto:
‘Grow, Flourish, Fly’
We want our children to grow as...
- Confident individuals who are proud of who they are.
- Unique learners who embrace their own strengths and differences.
- Compassionate individuals who understand and care for others.
To flourish through...
- Curiosity and creative expression, developing imagination and problem-solving skills.
- Aspiring to achieve, setting and striving toward personal and academic goals.
- Respecting and valuing the uniqueness of everyone, fostering inclusivity and global understanding.
To fly as...
- Resilient individuals, ready to face challenges with strength and perseverance.
- Aspirational thinkers, with the confidence to pursue their dreams and make a difference.
- Responsible leaders, guiding others with kindness and empathy.
