Friends of Longwick (PTA)

Welcome to Friends of Longwick School

Longwick CE Combined School is supported by the Friends of Longwick. We understand that children learn more and have better lives when everyone in our school community works together to share thoughts and information and work on projects to benefit the children.

In recent years, the Friends of Longwick has supported the school by:

• Providing class texts, library books and reading scheme books

• Purchasing a wide range of IT equipment including iPads, chrome books and a large prometheon for the main hall

• Supporting the costs of school trips

• Providing enrichment opportunities such as the Summer circus

When you join the school, you automatically become a member of the Friends of Longwick. You can become an important part of helping to ensure that plans can become a reality. We also welcome your new ideas for the benefit of our children.

How we raise money

Like most PTAs, the majority of our funds are raised through the events as well as the traditional May fete which is run in conjunction with the other village charities. Some of our most popular events are:

• Christmas Fayre

• Longwick Art Show

• Traditional May Fete

• Quiz Night

So you can see there is always something going on. We always try and respond to the requests of the school which includes supporting staff with resources as well as the children -  it is great to see them having fun at the events or enjoying using a piece of new equipment that  has been donated.

We raise money in other ways too. Donations from parents are extremely important. You can donate time, money, items for sale, raffle prizes and auction lots or offers of services and skills.

Any support is greatly appreciated and you can do this by offering to help before events or at other times during the year. Your support is so valuable. It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis, or even if you cannot come into school. It does not matter how much time you can offer. Every little bit helps. There are always jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare e.g. wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets etc. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help that we receive.
