  • PE and Sport Funding

The Government allocates PE and Sport Funding to schools in order for them to help their pupils to live healthy, active lives.  The funding is used to improve PE provision across the country.

Longwick Physical Education Strategy Statement 2025

At Longwick, we are committed to providing high-quality physical education (PE) and promoting an active lifestyle for all students. Our approach aligns with Department for Education guidance to ensure every child has the opportunity to get active, develop physical skills, and build a love for sport.

1. A Comprehensive PE Curriculum
We will deliver at least 2 hours of PE each week that is inclusive and designed to develop physical skills, sports knowledge, and healthy habits, catering to all abilities.

2. Promoting Daily Physical Activity
In addition to PE, we will ensure children have daily physical activity through play, structured games, and extracurricular sports clubs. We will ensure equal access to these activities for all students.

3. Inclusion and Support for All
Our PE offer will be accessible to every child, including those with SEND. We will foster an environment where all children feel confident and capable, encouraging participation for everyone.

4. Local Partnerships for Continued Engagement
We will build links with local sports clubs and community groups to provide opportunities for students to continue being active beyond school.

5. Staff Training and Development
We will ensure staff are well-trained and confident in delivering engaging, high-quality PE lessons, inspiring students to stay active.

6. Mental and Social Benefits
Physical activity improves not only physical health but also mental well-being, concentration, and social skills. We will emphasize the benefits of being active for overall well-being.

7. Building an Active School Culture
We will encourage leadership roles in sport and involve families in activities to create a community-wide commitment to being active.

8. Ongoing Review and Improvement
We will regularly evaluate our PE provision through feedback and data to ensure we continue to meet the needs of all our students.

By focusing on these areas, we aim to create an active, healthy environment where every child can thrive and develop a lifelong love for physical activity.
