Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Welcome to Year 2's Class Page! Throughout the year I will be using this page to keep you up to date with all the latest news and information. Each half term this page will be updated to contain the latest curriculum maps, spellings and home-learning grids from Year 2. I will also be uploading some pictures throughout the year of our exciting and engaging learning experiences and activities! I hope you find our Class Page useful.

Alternative Learning

I will upload new weekly lesson plans each weekend on Google Classroom for your child to either do independently or with you supporting. In addition I will load a copy of the weekly timetable here.

I hope the lessons are engaging and accessible for all. Could you please remind your child to ensure they include the essentials in their writing (capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and neat handwriting!). I won't be there over their shoulder reminding them!

We are living through a momentous period in our world's history. Could I ask that children try and keep a diary  as I'm sure that when they are adults they will want to look back and understand what they lived though and how they felt during it. Be creative with how it's completed: writing, pictures or recorded on a phone.  I don't mind but I do think they should record it in some way.

Phonics

I will also be uploading weekly phonics plans for the Bunny,Mice and Lion group also onto Google Classroom.

Please read with your child as much as possible - this will be the perfect opportunity to spend time together sharing your favourite books and reading to each other. Remember to ask lots of questions about what they are reading to help embed their understanding. I have included links to ebooks too - some even read to you!

Remember your child can  use LetterJoin for handwriting and NumBots for maths. I will be checking to see who uses it!! No pressure :). Below I have included a list of websites for you to check out with your child. Lots of different ideas to keep them engaged. In addition check out the list of maths games at the bottom of this class page.

If your child is proud of what they are achieving then I would love to know! Either send me an email or photo via the school office. I sent home 2 postcards for them to complete if they wished. It could be sent to me at school or to a family member to keep in touch.

I have also added some more activities under the Eco Council page for children to explore. enlightened

Any questions please email the office and I will get back to you.

Keep well and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
