PSHE at Longwick
Intent
At Longwick, our intent for PSHE is to provide a thoughtfully structured curriculum that prepares our pupils for the challenges of the wider world. We aim to offer high-quality provision that not only supports their academic journey but also equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary for their future education and careers.
We are committed to ensuring Longwick learners have the opportunity to explore their rights and responsibilities, understand the value of diversity, and appreciate the importance of being active participants in their communities. Our curriculum fosters a strong sense of self-worth, resilience, and emotional well-being. We actively encourage pupils to develop confidence in expressing and discussing their feelings, helping them navigate a wide range of topics such as mental health, relationships, and personal challenges. By providing a safe and supportive environment, we aim to empower our pupils to openly share their thoughts and emotions, enhancing their ability to communicate and empathize with others.
We want to build resilient, well-rounded Longwick Learners who are prepared to face challenges with confidence and integrity. Through our PSHE programme, we strive to instil in our pupils the tools they need to maintain a healthy mind and body while developing the emotional intelligence to thrive in both their personal and academic lives.
Additionally, we are dedicated to delivering a comprehensive Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) programme that empowers our pupils to navigate the complexities of current and future relationships.
Our RSE curriculum will be delivered by the children's class teachers who know the children well and are skilled in teaching this aspect of the curriculum. In line with the DfE guidelines, we also respect parents' right to withdraw their children from some RSE lessons, and we encourage open communication should any parent wish to exercise this option.
Please contact the school office or ask to speak to Mrs Wakefield if you have any further questions or concerns.
